The Near East, a land of dreams and journeys, is a stage of epic stories and mirages. Here, reality merges with dreams, where every landscape is a living painting and every sound, a melody that enchants. In this imaginary journey, a character explores ancient cities and mysterious deserts, guided by dreams and fantasy. He collect images and notes, creating a mosaic of experiences that challenge perception and invite reflection.
This project, realized in collaboration with the California Museum of Photography, uses the technique of stereo cards to create a disorienting visual effect, symbolizing an outlook filtered through Western culture. The superimposition of images generates a visual fog that represents the complexity of understanding and the Orientalist approach to the Near East. As surrealism breaks down barriers between dream and reality, this journey challenges the viewer to look beyond the image, to seek intellectual depth hidden in the nebulous vision of the Middle East. It is an invitation to a personal and critical reassembly of reality, an endless journey towards new perspectives and knowledge.
